I have a chair with what I believe to be cane on the seat, it is a small rocking chair, probably for a doll. My question has two parts. First, how can I tell if it is authentic cane versus paper, my mom said it feels like cane to her, but how can I be sure? Second, where can I possibly sell this piece? I bought it for the purpose of reselling it. Any other information about cane chairs or anything related would be greatly appreciated.
I would take it to an antique appraisor. Some manufacturers of full-size furniture made miniature samples for their traveling salesmen to show potential customers, in the 19th century.
Some of these miniature samples are quite valuable.
